At 3 J Ranch, we enjoy
ranching, but we know that it can be a very chancy proposition. Therefore, we try to
diversify our products. We raise many different types of animals. If the market is bad for
one kind, hopefully it will be good for one of the others. Although we raise a commercial
herd of cattle, we also raise Boer goat crosses. We have been building up our herd slowly
to where we are happier with our final product. The goats are meatier and therefore more
marketable.
We
also raise White Texas Dall and Black Barbado sheep. We also raise Llamas. The
newest addition to our herd is a frisky black and white female baby.
When the good Lord blesses us with rain, we can
produce crops of hay to feed the stock over the winter.
We work at other jobs during
the week. Then on the weekends, we ranch.
